Botànica proletària is a song to weeds composed in the language of photography, drawing and words.

Joan Fontcuberta
The book Botànica proletària includes 4 photographs by Joan Fontcuberta and 2 original drawings by Sylvie Bussières. The drawings are made with graphite on black and white photographs by Joan Fontcuberta. The graphic set is accompanied by a notebook with texts by Joan Fontcuberta, Joan Puigdefàbrega and Martí Boada. The collection is presented in a handmade fabric and wood folder. This project arose from the artists' walks during the time of confinement due to the Covid-19 crisis in spring 2020.
The project vindicates the wild and spontaneous nature that insists on growing on the edges of roads or on the margins, as opposed to the nature that is domesticated in gardens. The poems that accompany the drawings and photographs are a clear reference to rurality (or agrarianism), to its language, to the rhythm of the passing of days that accompanies and makes possible this unstoppable profusion of life.
The edition was presented at the Palau i Fabre Foundation as part of Sylvie Bussières' Males Herbes exhibition on 18 February 2022.
The edition contains:
