The circular images reveal segments of archived photographs previously obscured by stickers used by the archivist to code each image. In a sense, they are unearthed fragments of a deleted history.
Examining the Belfast Exposed archive, Broomberg and Chanarin worked with contact sheets documenting the Troubles in Northern Ireland. They excavated layers of interventions by photographers, community groups, researchers and archivists, revealing that we learn as much about the people charged with looking after this resource as the people portrayed in it
