Chris Killip (1946–2020) was a British photographer born on the Isle of Man. He is best known for his black-and-white photographs of working-class life in the north of England during the 1970s and 1980s, and his book In Flagrante (1988) is seen as one of the most important British photobooks.

North brings together his photographs of northeast England made between 1975 and 1986, with some pictures from Ireland and the Isle of Man. It shows fishing towns on the Yorkshire coast, Huddersfield, and mining communities during the miners' strike, at a time when industry was closing and many people were losing their work. More than half of the 224 images have never been published before. Edited by Mark Holborn.
