Made in 2024 in Marseille, France, this self-portrait was taken shortly after I received political refugee status. It is one of the first images from my personal project A Home Made of Us, which explores exile, displacement, and the search for a sense of home. Made in my bedroom, the photograph reflects the contradictory feelings I experienced at the time, relief, sadness, freedom, grief, and uncertainty, held within the warmth of the afternoon light.
